Summary of our summer

An overview of our summer so far.
Monkey got her PhD at the end of her 3rd grade year!

Bug did a great job and looked beautiful at her Kindergarten Program. We loved her teacher!

Monkey made a fire for their indoor campout.

Sleeping in their "tent".

Selling Lemonade!

Wishing Andrea Farewell for 18 months.

Meeting up with far-away friends.

Free concerts in the park.
Celebrated our Nation's holiday with a children's parade, good food, movies and fireworks
At the zoo we found a monkey...
And a Boo!
We had a Thacker Reunion where we went to Welfare Square....
And a local splash pad. We love being with cousins.
We went camping with my family.
And we hiked to Donut Falls. My girls are still talking about the trip!
We have had a great summer! It's so nice to have a long break to spend with my family.

Teaching moments

It finally happened! I had heard my friends talk about how great it is when your oldest starts to teach their siblings. What a wonderful thing it is.
Lala loves to help, but she's tends to cause more problems by "helping". On a laundry day, Monkey decided to teach her how to help.
Step 1: hand her clothes.

Step 2: Throw laundry into the basket.

She got pretty good at it.

Until she tried to put items in drawers.
It was a little high. She needed help.
I think we'll stick to baskets for now. I'm so proud of Monkey for doing this all on her own without any prompting from Mom and Dad.

Excited for the summer.

In general while I was growing up I preferred to hang out with the boys. Girls can be vicious and lets face it, boys are just so much easier to get along with. I have a few best girl friends that have stuck with me over the years and I'm getting better at hanging out with other women as I get older, but I still have to step out of my comfort zone when making new friends.
One of the great things about marrying into Michelangelo's large family was that I'd gone to school or been in band with four of his seven sisters, they are great, the two oldest are very accepting of people and his littlest sister was 8, so therefore I was a novelty at the time, she loved me, plus she's just a great person. I knew when we were dating that I could get along with all of these girls. They may have had their doubts about me, but we've made it work, right? ;)  After all being able to get along with family is pretty important, because we are talking eternity here.

Then our siblings started dating. When my sister in law got engaged I started thinking about the future. I was pretty sure I could get a long with any decent guy who married my sisters or sister in laws, not that I would have any say, (both men are fantastic by the way). I wondered how would I handle the women that married into the family?
Despite my previous worries when my brother proposed to K around Christmas time I couldn't have been happier. I love this girl who will be my new sister. I love her zest for life, and she understands what is truly important. She loves the gospel and she is the best thing that could have happened to my little brother. Thanks for that K! I look forward to a lot of fun experiences with this girl.

Yeah for June!
